ACADEMIC EVALUATION

ACADEMIC EVALUATION FOR GRADES IX TO XII:

The Academic Assessment is an important task for teaching and learning process hence the Assessment pattern has been developed after conducting research of various international standards together with a balance of the NCERT guidelines. Instead of individual achievement, the stress is to analyse what the peer group has been able to learn in the classroom inducing a spirit to use the knowledge base in real life situations. The entire session for the senior classes is divided into two semesters whereby the CCE (Continuous & Comprehensive Evaluation) is followed. To evaluate students’ academic performance, periodic formative tests of Objective /Subjective nature are conducted every Semester. Apart from this there are Semester Exams and Pre-Board Exams for assessing the CBSE level of understanding and application.

Our school being affiliated to the CBSE, the assessments for the secondary and the senior secondary sections is in adherence to the Assessment guidelines laid down by the boards. This includes the OTBA (Open Text based Assessment) for Class IX and XI.

The OTBA (Open Text Based Assessment) is the tool of Assessment, introduced for Class IX and XI, in the session 2013-14. The OTBA is the integral part of the Summative Assessments, comprising of printed text materials (containing case studies). These printed case studies are provided to the students, along with the main question papers, that contain around 10 to 12 marks of questions from this printed text.

The co-scholastic performance of the students is evaluated through various activities which are either individual or group tasks. We have incorporated several activities in our curriculum EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL ACTIVITIES AND clubs, which enhances the innate co-scholastic talents amongst the students. We also have the inter-class and intra-class events and competitions embedded in our curriculum. The participation and performance of the students in these activities and programs helps the Class teachers, Co-curricular teachers in evaluating the co-scholastic performance of the child.
